September 20, 2011

Wow has this summer gone by fast!!!! Being the avid winter/snow fan that I am, this is very good for me!  This was probably the busiest summer I've had in a few years.  I am up to about 15 appointments a week and most of them are now return clients!  Super happy I decided to go with the " Stressful Economy " promo, a lot of my clients really appreciate it.  For those who might need a reminder as to what that is, I am offering $40 hour sessions to anyone who makes an appointment my first year of business....  this year. They will be grandfathered into that price and when they go up to regular prices in 2012 they keep the promo price, ( for life!!)

As mentioned before I also received some continuing ed. on the topic of pain.  This has proven to be one of the most valuable classes so far.  In understanding pain and how it works I have become more effective in treating it and also explaining it so that my clients can be more mindful of their own conditions.  I am also starting to dabble in the benefits of stretching during sessions and have a guinea pig lined up so that I can offer more effective treatments for pain!  The vast majority of my clients are now coming in for my therapeutic sessions which last 35-45 minutes.  During the first full body massage I assess my clients situation through their own complaints and what I feel in the muscles during the massage.  We then set up a therapy session inwhich I focus only on the area in pain and it's surrounding and supporting muscles.  I palpate each muscle and work on all the trigger points in the area.  The most common sessions I have are for the sciatic pain pattern and shoulder/neck region.  I have had quite a bit of success with both treatments.  I was recently able to release a clients sciatic nerve that was impinged at the sacral region.  Her toes have been numb for almost a year and she has had full feeling for the last 2 weeks!!!  I am working right now with an occipital impingement and going to be starting sessions for thoracic outlet syndrome!!! I absolutely love it when a client comes back for their next session and talks about how great they feel!

Well I am coming up on my first year of practice and am a still loving this field to pieces!  There is nothing better or more fullfilling in life than helping someone in pain.  Thank you to all my blog followers and all my clients!  Here is to an even more productive second year!!
